The Place of Saint Tikhon's

The light here is golden and vivid, warm and a pursuer of attention. I keep finding myself in awe of it… in the woods, glowing on icons, shimmering on the water, rising over ponds and hills, settling into the horizon. There is much I could say about being here. I wonder if I’ll find words. Maybe I won’t find words and I’ll just let it all simmer in my thoughts and being. I will say - I’ve never been to a place quite like this.

The season here is turning closer to winter, cold air moving in, and the light shifting its course in the sky. I’m trying to memorize it all.

On a related sidenote - if you’ve been looking for a place to go and to be in the quiet, to hear yourself think, to pray, and to let Liturgy and sacred music wash over you in the way only it can restore, St. Tikhon’s Monastery has guesthouses, woods, ponds, and all the light to bring you back to yourself. You should come and stay for a bit.
